Just back from our shakedown cruise and there is good news and bad news...........
Loaded up on Wednesday and headed out to Lac La Jeune, not too far for a first trip, only a couple of hours away. The truck tows well up the hills and the trailer follows along nicely.
We arrived at the campground and Joe did a remarkable job of backing into a somewhat tough spot. All set up and turn on the heat as it was cold!
The rig - big isn't it!
Wandered down to the lake later and tried our hand at fishing off the dock. No interest in my lure but Joe had a few strikes on his fly, but sandwiches it was for dinner.
But then.........we woke up to rain and snow mixed! It's late May, not supposed to snow! Too windy to fish so we pack up and head south. Rained the whole way and after a long detour out by Mabel Lake we end up just south of Vernon on Kalamalka Lake.
Lovely campsite and very quiet.
One of our neighbours in the campground.
Found a couple of problems with the trailer, small ones so dropped it off at the dealer for some repairs. Not bad, just a leaking water tank and a thermostat not working right.
But the bed is comfortable, the stove works well and there is tons of room in the unit. Not impressed with the french woman who hides in our smoke alarm though! She jumps out too often(when we are cooking) and says Fire! Feu! I call her 'Celene" and have a stick to poke her with and turn her off. But it is good to have a working smoke detector in the unit.
Kitchen Sitting area
So not a bad shakedown and things look good for the trip. Still more things to do before we head out but progress is being made.
North to Alaska
We are heading out on a RV adventure........north to Alaska!

Getting ready
So far we have bought the truck and trailer. I guess that is a good start! Pictures to come soon.
Then we have to get it all outfitted. That means a trip to the coast to pick up stuff, and more stuff!
